There are 5 artists in Lyndonville that will be participating, and Satellite Gallery will be open extended hours - an artist hub for sure and well worth the trip! "After the flood" - ARA Group Show thru September 30, 2024
Center for Arts and Learning Hours: 9am-5pm, Monday-Saturday 46 Barre St., Montpelier, VT 05602 River’s Edge - stitched by hand This is the first in a series of exploring and coming to terms with the devastation of the flooding that occurred in downtown Montpelier, July 2023. How can a simple line with a surge have such an impact? I lived around the corner from the Kellogg-Hubbard library, and my apartment building was surrounded by over 3 1/2 feet of water. How disorienting it was to see familiar objects, buildings, the landscape become part of the river. Muddy and polluted, fierce and mean. Why a stitched line versus drawing with pen or pencil? Process. The act of stitching. A conscious slowing down. The sound of the needle puncturing the paper creates a rhythm, a meditation. Water Data for this graph was taken from the USGS.gov. |
